Posting Rules

Last updated: November 2026

The basics

  • One job, rental, item or service per post, in the right category and city.
  • Be honest and specific: real prices, real photos of what you are offering, and accurate details.
  • Don’t post the same ad more than once. Renew your existing ad instead.
  • Up to 5 new posts per week. Ads expire after 30 days and can be renewed.
  • Photos must be yours to use. No other people’s personal information.

Not allowed: these posts are rejected

  • Scams and fraud: fake listings, advance-fee or “pay first” schemes, requests for deposits before a viewing, phishing, fake job offers.
  • Sexual services, escorts or adult content of any kind.
  • Massage, body rub or “relaxation” services.
  • Weapons: firearms, ammunition, parts, replicas, prohibited knives, explosives.
  • Drugs: illegal drugs, cannabis, prescription medicines and drug paraphernalia.
  • Counterfeit, replica or stolen goods.
  • Pyramid schemes, MLM recruitment and “get rich quick” or pay-to-work offers.
  • Duplicate posts.
  • Hate, harassment, or anything illegal in BC or Canada.

Held for review: these posts wait for a moderator

Some posts are checked by a person before they go live. They are not rejected, but they may take longer to appear.

  • Rentals and jobs must follow the BC Human Rights Code. You can’t refuse or prefer tenants or workers because of race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, Indigenous identity, religion, marital status, family status (for example “no kids”), physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or age; for rentals, lawful source of income (for example “no social assistance”); and for jobs, political belief or an unrelated criminal conviction. Describe the job or home instead of the person you want. (A room where the tenant shares a bathroom or kitchen with you can state preferences.)
  • Regulated services: immigration consulting, legal services and investment or financial advice. Only licensed professionals may offer these; include your licence or membership number.

Staying safe

  • Meet in a public place and bring someone with you.
  • See a rental in person before paying a deposit, and get a written tenancy agreement.
  • Never pay by wire transfer, cryptocurrency or gift cards, and never share banking passwords or one-time codes.
  • Real employers don’t charge you to apply or ask you to cash cheques for them.
  • If something looks wrong, use “Report” on the post.
